Magento to Shopify Migration for Printing Company
Epson Labelworks serves as Epson’s marketing, sales, and fulfillment organization for its comprehensive line of home, office, and industrial thermal transfer labeling solutions. Our team started working with them on their Magento 2 website where we helped support upgrades, security patches, and other maintenance work.
Ongoing maintenance with Magento was becoming burdensome for the company so we worked with them to evaluate other platforms and decided Shopify Plus would be a great solution. From there we outlined the work to migrate the website from Magento to Shopify Plus and then implemented the project over the following months. By switching to Shopify the client got –

Custom Features
The new Shopify site builds on the client’s previous investment in content but makes things easier to update. The extensive library of content on the site was intended to help customers with tutorials and guides for their products. Using the Shopify blog as a content storage system we built out a directory of videos libraries and other content that help customers implement printing solutions for their home or business.
Sub category navigation
Since there is a large variety of products that only fit one specific printer we developed a subcategory display that let’s the user easily self select their needed type of printer and paper or tape.
Improved Search
Building on Shopify’s search capabilities we make it easy for a custom to find the specific product or part they need.
Custom Metafields
We needed to store custom information on products, customers and orders for use in variety of backend applications. Using Shopify’s metafield functionality allowed us to store this data easly and use it for functionality like filters.
Custom Messages
Throughout the site there is a variety of calculations and messages which help customers procure the correct configuration or setup for their needs.
Video Library
We polished off the site with a video library that is easy to search and filter by product. Each video is tied to the product page and vice versa so it’s easy for a customer to find the tutorial and information about the product they’re using.
